Inking the Lady of April + Original Art Available Again
almost 6 years ago – Sat, May 26, 2018 at 04:40:23 PM

I enjoy leaving you all with little glimpses of how I made the line art for this book on the weekends and this weekend is no exception!

Last time, you viewed Lady of March's line art with her hidden imagery.  This week I'm sharing the next Lady in the series, Lady of April, with her organic twisting trees, long flowing hair, and intertwining stained glass sections.  She was a fun challenge to create!  This was hours of footage condensed down to about 5 minutes:

April was drawn with Micron pens and painted with watercolors.  If you're curious about my exact tools, you can view my Tools & Materials list online.

Original Art Available Again

In other news, as new originals become available, some Backers have changed their tiers around to claim them, leaving their previous choice of art bundle free to be claimed, since these tiers can only be claimed by a single person.

As such, some of the earlier drawings have become available again!  Grab them while you can because these Ladies are being claimed fast!  As of this writing, the following drawings are now available:

I'll also be posting the final two header drawings for Lady of November and Lady of December, two of my most popular Ladies, next week, so keep checking back regularly if these Ladies are your favorites!

We're almost funded today as we're just a mere $571 short of our funding goal!  Now's the best time for one last round of reminders and shares of this project, if you want to share with your friends!  The Press Kit of shareable links and images can be found here.  Let's see if we can reach those Stretch Goals for extra pages this final week!

It's been such a wild ride and I'm so grateful for your support.  Thanks for your enthusiasm, everyone, and have a wonderful weekend!

NEW Original Art Tier - The Lady of Lost Souls (October)
almost 6 years ago – Wed, May 23, 2018 at 05:42:01 PM

The Lady of Lost Souls joins the Rewards today!

This Lady for October wanders the mists between the living and the dead, guiding the lost back to the light. The strong scent of her Marigolds draws lost souls to her, bringing them peace. Her Opal amulets grant her clear vision in her seeking.

It's funny, I didn't exactly plan the dangling chains of her outfit to look like ribs if I shortened the design, but they worked out that way, which is perfect for this ghostly specter of October!

By the time I could finish this post, this Lady's drawing was claimed!  However, the Lady of Resurrection (March) and Lady of the Equinox (September) are still currently available as Rewards!  Lady of November and December, two of my most popular pieces from this series, will be posted next week during the final stretch of the campaign!

If you'd like the best chance to claim an original, I usually post about them on social media first before I make my Kickstarter updates.  Keep an eye out on the following places if you'd like to get the best chance at nabbing your favorite:

We're a little under $1k out from our funding goal, so I highly encourage you all to share the book with your friends, favorite coloring groups, and more if we want to reach those stretch goals.  We're almost theeeere!

Tea With Changelings Interview
almost 6 years ago – Tue, May 22, 2018 at 07:21:22 PM

I had a fine time chatting and drinking tea with fellow artist, Eeva Nikunen, today!  I thought you all might enjoy watching the interview where we discuss the origin of the Ladies of the Months project, the nuts and bolts of a Kickstarter, and other advice for artists.

>Watch the interview here.<

Questions or comments?  Feel free to leave them on the video so me and the other Changelings can see!

Until next time.  Are you excited for the last few drawings? I know I am!

NEW Original Art Tier - The Lady of the Equinox (September)
almost 6 years ago – Mon, May 21, 2018 at 06:58:57 PM

The Lady of the Equinox has joined the coloring book Kickstarter Rewards!

This Lady for September represents the balancing force of the Equinox, the equality of night and day and the dark and light within ourselves. She shows us the balance between our merits and flaws and how to become our best selves.

I'm so happy I finally got to show her face from the front, as you can't tell in the original painting she has parti-color eyes to match her clothing. Her eyes also reflect the dual nature of Sapphires, which come in not just their famous blue, but in red as well!

I hope one of you might give her a home.  Now, I'm off to work on the final 3 Ladies for October, November, and December who will be added over the course of the final days of the campaign.  We've got just 9 days left!  We're almost there, you guys!

REMINDER!

I'll be appearing on the new web show Tea with Changelings at noon EST tomorrow to talk about Kickstarter, the birthstone project, and more art things with artist, Eeva Nikunen!  Subscribe to the Changeling YouTube channel to be notified when we go live and to stay tuned to other artist interviews from our enchanting collective of artists.

That's all for now!  I leave you with a time lapse of how The Lady of the Equinox came to life:

Inking the Lady of March [VIDEO]
almost 6 years ago – Fri, May 18, 2018 at 03:31:08 PM

Happy Friday, all!  As we move into the weekend, I wanted to leave you with another peek at how I created the line art for this coloring book!

Lady of March presented a unique challenge with her frilly daffodils, sheer veil, and layered colors of ink. Enjoy this time-lapse video showing hours of work condensed into 5 minutes!

She was inked with blue and sepia Micron Pens. If you're curious about the exact materials, paper, etc. I like to use, you can check out my Tools & Materials list online.

Here's a look at Lady of March's finished line art vs. her final painting!

As of this writing, we're $1,300 shy of our $8,000 goal ($2,700 short of the highest stretch goal) with 12 days left.  We're doing very well, but we could still use a little push!  So if you're meeting up with any friends that love to color, definitely tell them about the book this weekend.  The more, the merrier!

I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into Lady of March's process!  Now, I wonder how many of you spotted the skeleton in her reflection before I mentioned it just now? ;D  Let me know in comments!

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
